"Cuando Dios es el Amigo que Nunca Duerme”
En este XVII Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario, el Evangelio nos ofrece una enseñanza profunda sobre la confianza perseverante en la oración. Jesús no nos presenta a un amigo molesto tocando la puerta, sino a un amigo confiable al que resulta impensable no levantarse a ayudar. ¿Cómo no va a responder Dios, que es infinitamente más bueno que cualquier amigo humano?
La clave está en la confianza, no en la insistencia por sí sola. Lucas acentúa la necesidad de perseverar, de “pedir, buscar y llamar” sabiendo que el Padre bueno no da piedras cuando se le pide pan. Sin embargo, la enseñanza va más allá: Dios no da simplemente “cosas buenas”, sino que nos ofrece el Espíritu Santo. Eso revela que lo que se nos concede en la oración no siempre es lo que pedimos, sino lo que realmente necesitamos para vivir en plenitud.
El silencio de Dios no es ausencia, sino un llamado a la fe. Como Abraham que intercede por Sodoma (Gén 18), el cristiano ora desde una confianza que nace no del mérito, sino del amor de un Dios que escucha siempre.

“When God Is the Friend Who Never Sleeps”
In this 17th Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus offers a moving catechesis on trustful prayer. He doesn’t emphasize a bothersome friend knocking late at night, but rather a faithful friend inside the house—someone it would be unthinkable not to help. If human friendship compels response, how much more will God, who is goodness itself, respond to our cry?
The message is not just about persistence but about trustful perseverance. "Ask, seek, knock..."—because the Father knows how to give not only good gifts, but the Holy Spirit, the ultimate good. This shows that God doesn't always grant what we want, but what we truly need to flourish in His grace.
God’s silence is not rejection—it’s an invitation to deeper faith. Like Abraham interceding for Sodom (Gen 18), the Christian prays with hope, not because of merit, but because of the certainty that God listens with a Father’s heart.
